Linkin Park’s Lead Singer Chester Bennington Commits Suicide At 41

ComplexChester Bennington, the lead vocalist of rock band Linkin Park, has committed suicide. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Bennington hanged himself at a Palos Verdes Estates residence in Los Angeles County. Bennington’s body was found Thursday morning. Shortly after the initial report, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office confirmed Bennington’s death in a statement to the Associated Press. He was 41.

Terrible, terrible news out of the rock/metal scene. I’m 28, and I’ve been a huge Linkin Park fan since the 5th grade. I had magazine photos of Chester and the rest of the guys inside my locker. Painted the logos of rock bands all over literally everything when I was in grade school. I was lucky enough to see these guys perform at the old Wachovia Arena along with Cyprus Hill with my good buddy Eddie K. One of the greatest rock bands of our generation. Still to this day I listen to the Meteora CD (one of the greatest metal albums of all time) in my car.

This is also something to think about:

These were the song titles of their latest album.

One of the originators of rock n roll mixed with hip-hop. The mashup they did with Jay-Z will also be one of the greatest album’s of all time.

Just some of the shittiest news you could possibly get on a casual Thursday. I guess this is the part where I end the blog with some of my favorite Linkin Park songs. May Chester live on forever with these songs. A terrible day for Rock N Roll….
